General Anaesthetic Dentistry
Dr Mace and Dr Krapf are accredited at St Luke’s hospital in Launceston and run surgical general anaesthetic lists twice a month.
This offers a wonderful opportunity for patients who either require complex surgical treatment or are simply too anxious to undertake dental treatment in the chair under local anaesthetic.
Most often required where either multiple extractions or multiple implants are required (or both concurrently) we can usually arrange your surgery within a few weeks as necessary. Even if you need just a single extraction or implant but are extremely nervous about the treatment a GA can be a great option.
Given the involvement of a specialist anaesthetist, theatre staff, and operating theatre and hospital costs, obviously treatment under general anaesthetic is more expensive, but if you are at all interested do get in touch with us for more information and a breakdown of fees. Additionally, where the cost is just too much of a stretch for complex treatment, we can often offer a payment plan to spread the costs for up to 6 months – again contact the practice for more details (please note hospital and anaesthetist fees must be paid in full and cannot be spread over time).
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
